A Case of Lennox‐Gastaut Syndrome Successfully Treated by Removal of a Parietotemporal Astrocytoma

Summary: We report a case of Lennox‐Gastaut‐type epilepsy that was followed for 3 years. The patient showed typical EEG findings and later a parietotemporal astrocytoma (type II) on the left. Removal of the tumor was followed by recovery of the child and disappearance of EEG epileptic elements. RÉSUMÉ On présente ici un cas d'épilepsie du type Lennox‐Gastaut, observé pendant trois ans, qui présentait les aspects typiques EEG et ensuite un astrocytoma parieto‐temporal de 1'hémisphere gauche. Après L';extirpation du tumeur, il y eu la guérison de L';enfant et une disparition des éléments épileptiques EEG. RESUMEN Se presenta un caso de epilepsyía de Lennox‐Gastaut seguido durante 3 años que mostró en el EEG los hallazgos típicos de esta entidad y, posteriormente, un astrocitoma (grado II) parieto‐temporal izquierdo. La extirpación del tumor condujo a la recuperación del niño y a la desaparición de los elementos epilépticos en el EEG. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Bericht übereinen Fall eines Lennox‐Gastaut‐Syndromas mit 3 jährigem Verlauf. Es zeigt im EEG typische Veränderungen. Später wurde ein parietotemporal gelegenes Astrozytoms (Typ II) der linken Seite gefunden. Nach Entfernung des Tumors erholte sich das Kind und die pathologischen EEG‐Verän‐derungen verschwanden.
