SUMMARY The case of a 22 years old female is described who at the age of 16 had two typical grand mal seizures. Since the age of 18 years she has been affected with attacks of postural tonus loss lasting several seconds. They involve both sides of the body alternately or one upper and the two lower extremities. These attacks are induced by abrupt locomotor movements of the lower extremities, particularly if following rest, and are not accompanied by loss of consciousness. Moreover the patient exhibits rare tonic attacks confined to her upper extremities, induced also by rapid movements.
