SYNOPSIS The purpose of this study is to demonstrate a simple technique for gaining information about the headache patient as a person. Eighty four headache patients while admitted to the hospital as in‐patients, over the past 8 years, were asked simply “to write about themselves”. The autobiographies which they eagerly supplied were amazingly frank and helpful in revealing details of their lives and feelings of a sort considered relevant to the management of the patient with headache.
