SYNOPSIS Tursky's (1976) set of pain descriptors for the intensity and reactivity dimensions were psychophysically scaled by patients with either tension, migraine, combined migraine and tension or cluster headaches and by a group of non‐headache sufferers. The reactivity descriptors consistently discriminated headache from non‐headache subjects and tended to be aligned consistent with the severity of the pain experienced in the various kinds of headaches.
