Pheochromocytoma: Paroxysmal Hypertensive Headaches

SYNOPSIS A thirty‐year‐old female reported episodic vascular headaches for one year. On physical examination during a headache her average systolic and diastolic blood pressure rose 33 mm Hg and 18 mm Hg respectively. Her headaches ceased after removal of a 100 g left intra‐adrenal tumor located by abdominal CAT scan. Details of the patient's diagnosis and the general evaluation of headache patients for pheochromocytoma are discussed.
