SYNOPSIS Headache characteristics, diagnosis, current treatments, and treatment efficacy of a random sample of the general population were examined as a result of a verbally‐administered questionnaire. The factors of prevalence, frequency, intensity, and duration of the average headache were found to be similar to the findings of earlier studies. Original data on diagnosis, prescribed treatment, and its effectiveness is provided. The findings suggest that further research attention should focus on investigating more effective methods of treatment.
