FOR THE PURPOSE Of our discussion, a cerebral concussion is defined as a disturbance or impairment of consciousness due to a head injury from which the patient recovers spontaneously. It is to be noted that this definition refers to a disturbance in consciousness rather than a complete loss of consciousness. Hence, the state of being confused, dazed, or stunned is considered a disturbance in consciousness as well as actual coma.
