Abstract: Thirteen percent of 99 patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis showed an increased predialysis peripheral blood eosinophil count (mean value of 828 cells/mm 3 , range 410–2, 710). Patients with eosinophilia were predominantly male and evidenced more frequent elevation of total plasma IgE levels. Otherwise, no differences were found between patients with and without eosinophilia.
