M. Berenice Beck, Ph.D., R.N. founded the baccalaureate program in nursing at Marquette University in Milwaukee. She was one of the first members of the nursing profession to earn a doctoral degree. Beck participated in development of ANA's Code for Nurses, adopted by the house of Delegates in 1950. She was inducted into the Nursing Hall of Fame in 1986.
