Numerous Hispanics of low socioeconomic status come from the countryside of underdeveloped countries to the industrialized cities of the United States. Because they are becoming the largestminority in this country, health professionals should be aware of their cultural differences when evaluating or treating them to eliminate the risk of misinterpreting non only their symptoms but their response to treatment.
