Much has been written about host defenses in peritoneal dialysis. In a practical sense, is there anything a clinician can do to enhance peritoneal resistance to infection to help patients with frequent peritonitis? (I understand that the primary problem is probably related to contamination not resistance; however, I'd like to address the latter issue as well .)
