CAPD Peritonitis: Therapy and Risk of Adhesions

It has been recommended that temporary discon‐ tinuation of CAPD may be of value in clearing a resistant peritonitis. I have been reluctant to “rest” the peritoneum in this setting, however, because I am concerned that inflammatory debris will cause peritoneal adhesions and ultimate failure for this dialysis modality. Is there evidence that this is or isn't an important consideration?
