Summary Evaluation of renal osteodystrophy is always challenging and sometimes quite difficult. Clearly, a thorough understanding of the usefulness and limitations of the tests available in its assessment is of paramount importance. However, when the diagnosis is in doubt, a bone biopsy may yield critical information allowing effective therapy.
