Following a hypertension symposium in New York City on January 22, 2003, a roundtable was convened to discuss and critique the Antihypertensive and Lipid‐Lowering Treatment to Prevent Heart Attack Trial (ALLHAT), which was recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. Marvin Moser, Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, moderated the discussion. Panelists included Dr. William Cushman, Professor of Preventive Medicine and Medicine, University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis, TN, one of the principal investigators in the ALLHAT trial, and Dr. Michael Weber, Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in New York.
