There is an emerging agreement on the benefits of supplemental foods in the improvement of pregnancy outcome for women identified as being at risk of delivering a low birthweight infant because of nutritional factors. There is also an emerging recognition of the major points of the process by which such benefits might be accomplished. But in addition, experience in analyzing the results of the Montreal Diet Dispensary calls attention to several other issues that are also essential. (BIRTH 10:1, Spring 1983)
