Six benzodiazepine‐dependent, methadone‐maintained patients were randomized to 2 weeks of either 1) active oxazepam taper or 2) active carbamazepine (200 mg qid). Carbamazepine was associated with more severe withdrawal and complaints of nausea and ataxia.
