A scimitar‐toothed cat ( H omotherium serum ) and stag moose ( C ervalces sp.) are described from T yson S pring C ave, F illmore C ounty, M innesota. These specimens represent the first records of both species in the state, and the first record for H . serum in the G reat L akes region. Although the C ervalces specimen remains undated, it shares features with pre‐ W isconsin specimens from the eastern G reat P lains. The H . serum individual dates to c. 26.9 ka, when the W isconsin ice margin was less than 60 km away. Genetic analyses support the identity of the H omotherium specimen as conspecific with H omotherium serum found in older B eringian deposits, as well as both the early divergence of tribes H omotherini and S milodontini within M achairodontinae and the early divergence of this M achairodontinae from the lineage that produced extant cats.
