Summary: Seventeen cases of fetal death in utero and 3 cases of anencephaly have been managed by the extra‐amniotic instillation of prostaglandin F2α in Tylose, followed 12 hours later by amniotomy and the intravenous infusion of oxytocin in escalating doses. The mean amniotomy‐delivery interval was 7.4 hours and all patients delivered within 12 hours. There were no complications.
