Summary: All Kielland's forceps used at the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne, were measured with engineering calipers. All forceps varied by 3 mm or more in at least one obstetrically important measurement from Kielland's design. Cephalic and pelvic curve abnormalities were found. Obstetricians should measure their Kielland's forceps for design accuracy.
