Summary: A pregnancy is reported in which low urine and plasma total oestriol levels were observed concurrently with normal plasma unconjugated oestriol concentrations. It is suggested that the apparently conflicting data were a result of atypical maternal metabolism of oestriol, perhaps due to an abnormal enterohepatic circulation.
