Summary: Two cases of compound presentation following external version are presented. The frequent combination of the feet with the vertex following this procedure and its association with a higher fetal mortality, interference rate, and obstructed labour than the hand and vertex combination are highlighted. The aetiology, problems in diagnosis, and management are discussed. Measures to prevent and deal with this complication are suggested.
