Summary: Ampicillin was given to 21 noninfected patients in the last trimester of pregnancy. There was no significant alteration in plasma unconjugated oestradiol‐17β and placental lactogen levels during treatment. Total plasma oestriol, on the other hand, showed a significant reduction of 30% to 40% during and after treatment.
