Summary: Fertilisation and development of 9 ova to the stage of theoretical viability (28 weeks), followed the induction of ovulation with 3 injections of human pituitary gonadotrophin and 1 injection of human chorionic gonadotrophin. The total urinary oestrogen level prior to ovulation reached a peak of 235 μg per 24 hours, the day prior to the injection of 6,000 I.U. HCG. High plasma prolactin levels due to a small pituitary tumour may have accounted for variability in response to HPG.
