Summary: A prospective study was carried out of the efficacy and acceptance of 6‐monthly Depo‐Provera injections in postpartum patients. Analysis of the results in the first 310 patients showed a low acceptance rate. The cumulative discontinuation rates of 50 per 100 women at 6 months and 75 per 100 women at 12 months are much higher than reported in other series.
