There are 2 ways of attacking the problem of malignant disease — diagnosis at an earlier stage, and better treatment. Gynaecologists all over the world have made a great effort in the past few years to diagnose pelvic cancer at an earlier stage, especially in the case of carcinoma of the cervix. I wish to deal only with the second line of attack and to review recent changes in attitude to the treatment of the commoner types of pelvic malignancy in women.
