Summary Myometrium from a non‐pregnant subject has been shown to produce renin in tissue culture. The pattern of renin production in vitro by myometrium from a non‐pregnant subject was similar to that demonstrated in tissue culture of myometrium from pregnant subjects. Bowie‐positive cells have been demonstrated in a scattered distribution throughout the myometrium and chorion. It is suggested that these cells are the site of synthesis of renin in these tissues. These cells occur much more frequently in chorion than in myometrium, a finding which relates well to the renin content of these tissues.
