Summary The histories of 887 rhesus D immunized patients are reviewed. Forty‐six patients (5.2%) were already immunized by the time of delivery of the first baby. Nine (1%) were probably immunized by an abortion, 17 (1.9%) appeared to become immunized during pregnancy, and 20 (2.2%) were immunized by an incompatible blood transfusion prior to pregnancy. The implications of these findings with regard to timing of anti‐D gamma globulin injections is discussed.
