Summary A case of choriocarcinoma with a relentlessly fatal course in spite of therapy is presented. The uncommon mode of clinical presentation as a threatened and later missed abortion is discussed and its importance for early diagnosis emphasised. An accurate, quantitative method for assaying H.C.G. titres in serum and urine is a sine qua non for early diagnosis of choriocarcinoma. Preliminary hysterectomy followed by chemotherapy may increase metastases.
