Summary: A group of 359 patients, selected on a basis of proved subsequent fertility, was investigated to test the reliability of the safe period. The total failure rate was 11.9 per 100 woman‐years. This is compared with failure rates reported for other birth control procedures. The reasons for the failures are analysed.
