Summary: A comparison between the thrombin clotting times of a group of patients with pre‐eclamptic toxaemia and of group of normal pregnant controls has shown that there is a tendency of unknown significance towards prolongation of the thrombin clotting time in the pre‐eclamptic group. Factors involved in this reaction have been found to be within normal limits, and reasons have been given for suggesting that electrolyte imbalance might be the cause of this alteration.
