Summary:1  Estimations of 6‐phosphogluconate dehydrogenase in vaginal fluid have been carried out on 24 patients (33 tests) with carcinoma in situ and 9 patients (13 tests) with invasive carcinoma of the cervix. 2  A negative result was obtained in 14 tests in the first group and 1 test in the second group. 3  The proportion of false negative results obtained leads us to conclude that the test as performed at present is an unsatisfactory substitute for good cytology.
