Summary:1 Seventeen patients with eclamptic fits occurring for the first time after delivery are presented. 2 At least 3 of the patients showed no evidence of pre‐eclampsia before delivery. 3 Two patients had post partum haemorrhage due to retained pieces of placental tissue. 4 A patient with convulsions occurring 11 days after delivery is presented and it is suggested that there may be a connection between viable placental tissue and eclampsia. 5 There were no maternal deaths in the post partum group, which is in contrast to the ante partum group, where there were 8 deaths in 46 patients.
