Summary: In ultrasonic diagnosis in the field of gynaecology, it is our opinion that the crystal vibrator is best applied through the vagina. We have devised special detectors for this purpose, a brief description of which has been given. Pregnancy has been diagnosed at an early stage by this method. In addition, the technique is helpful in the differential diagnosis various intrapelvic turnours, such as uterine myomata. No side‐effects have been noted and the manipulation can be done quite painlessly.
