Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides which are able to form complexes with a wide range of organic compounds, including fragrance oils. As a result of the complexation, the vapour pressure of the volatile substance is reduced and its release is better controlled. To achieve this, β‐cyclodextrin can be anchored to cellulose by means of a chemical linkage provided by heterobifunctional reactive dyes.
