Chemical modification of cotton cellulose in the fabric form was investigated through reaction with monochloro‐β‐cyclodextrin. The reaction involves single ended substitution and crosslinking. Investigations into the factors affecting these reactions occurring in the presence of N‐methylol compound (resin) and/or a reactive dye were undertaken. The treatment was carried out as per the conventional pad–thermofixation method.
