Utilisation of the reduction and oxidation properties of metal phthalocyanine derivatives was carried out for the development of new types of redox resin. The redox resins were prepared by fixing the synthesised metal phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acids onto ion exchange resins. The adsorption properties of metal phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid onto an anion exchange resin was found to be the Freundlich type with the characteristics of both chemisorption and physisorption. The capabilities of the redox resins were estimated with the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide which was shown to increase with increasing reaction time. The capability was found to be dependent on the central metal in the metal phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid.
