Poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(butylene terephthalate) filaments were pretreated with different solvents under identical conditions to observe their effect on various properties such as swelling, moisture regain and dyeability. The effect of solvents was found to be more pronounced on the polyethylene than on the polybutylene ester. The results have been explained on the basis of the structural differences between the two polyesters.
