Reactions of dyes, some of which contain a carboxylic acid group, on polyamide have been investigated using nine different dyes of differing chemical structures. Fixation characteristics and dye–fibre bond stability to alkaline washing were also studied. Light fastness and ability to cover barre effects on nylon were investigated. Studies were also made on the effect of carbodiimide on fixation and dye–fibre bond stability of these dyes on nylon fibres.
