A summary of the main technical research and industrial applications of enzymes in textile chemistry processes developed over recent years is presented. Discussion is focused on cotton, wool and silk fibers. Different aspects to be considered, in the author's opinion, in the future development of these promising applications of biotechnology in the textile chemistry field are finally pointed out.
