The demand for just‐in‐time inventory is a driving force for change in the colour industry. The entire cycle time to develop new colours and replenish fast‐selling stock has to be reduced in order to remain competitive in today's market. K C Lau of Datacolor International suggests the use of instrumental colour measurements, self‐approval, and specification of colours by reflectance data to achieve this.
