Informative on‐line measuring systems are instrumental to monitoring and improving the reproducibility of the continuous dyeing process, and thus facilitate dynamic response to consumer demand via right‐first‐time production. The on‐line colorimetry process for measuring and regulating the intensity of colour in the wet fabric downstream of the padder is a way for early recognition and warning of tailing and listing, writes Kurt van Wersch.
