The effect of dry corona and aqueous treatments on the hygral expansion of wool gabardine has been investigated. Increasing the severity of the corona treatment produced a concomitant reduction in the hygral expansion of the fabric. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy has been used to study the chemical modification of the wool fibre surface.
