Textile dyers and finishers could sometimes be forgiven for thinking that they are more endangered than the environment they are often accused of polluting. Nevertheless, progressive companies do recognise the need to make every effort to clean up their operations, as an essential aspect of business survival. One such company is John Heathcoat, basedin Devon, a mainly rural county of England with many visitors and holidaymakers. In this article Eric Newton describes the steps his company has taken to address the concerns of environmentalists.
