‘The last three years particularly have seen a marked decline in the overall level of performance’ is how the examiners summed up the ASDC results in their 1990 report. They went on to say that the marks in 1990 ‘were without doubt the poorest on record with only 15% of examinees passing all the papers for which they entered’ and information that is available for the results in 1991 suggests a further decline in performance standards.
