The paper describes the synthesis and characterisation of various alkylaminoanthraquinone dyes based on caprolactam and 11–aminoundecanoic acid. These dyes were characterised in terms of their elemental composition and i. r., n. m. r. and mass spectrometry. The dyes synthesised in the present work were stable up to 320°C and started to decompose above this temperature. Increasing the alkyl chain length of carboxyalkylamino substituents resulted in an increase in dye uptake during dyeing.
