The installation of process control in the batch dyehouse is essential to obtain good productivity and efficiency and significant cost savings. It is also a prerequisite to the installation of control technology through to the level of total automation. The various areas requiring process control are discussed. Virtually every function in the dyehouse can be automatically controlled, but at a cost. Many features of available control technology have been well documented and are reviewed only briefly here. The options available for the installation of control equipment are discussed and various case histories are utilised to demonstrate the cost‐effectiveness of installing control equipment at various levels of sophistication.
