A range of azo disperse dyes was prepared from new coupling components, 5‐amino‐3‐methyl‐1‐(3′, 5′‐disubstituted) s‐triazinylpyrazoles. The new dyes have improved spectral absorption properties over the corresponding 5‐aminophenylpyrazole dyes. The visible spectral and colouristic properties of the 5‐amino‐1 H‐(s‐triazinyljpyrazole and 5‐pyrazolone dyes have been compared with the 5‐amino‐1N‐phenylpyrazole and 5‐pyrazolone dyes.
