Although by no means exhaustive, the paper covers a wide range of management subjects. In most cases, having stated a principle, the author uses illustrations culled from real life to demonstrate that principle and act as a focus for further comment. The subject matter is arranged in similar order to the ASDC ‘Study Guide’ for Paper E (Industrial Organisation and Management), but it is hoped that students and mature managers alike will find something of value in the content or perspective to engage their attention. The aspects dealt with are: (a) industrial organisation, (b) principles and practice of management, (c) computers, (d) personnel management, (e) layout and maintenance and (f) financial management.
