The concentration of polymer on shrink–resist–treated wool fabrics can be quantitatively determined by padding the fabric with organic solvent containing dissolved dye and then measuring the fabric reflectance. The method is particularly suitable for polymers applied by aqueous padding and exhaust processes using such products as Synthappret BAP, but is not applicable to polyamidel epichlorohydrin polymers (e. g. Hercosett 125) and silicones (e. g. Dow Corning DC 109).
