Knowledge required for the basic understanding of pH values is outlined. The practical significance of pH with respect to dye exhaustion and stability of fibres and dyes is discussed. The relationships between the pH‐control and temperature‐control of dyeing processes, and the implementation of pH control are discussed. Methods of control of pH in temperature‐controlled and pH‐controlled dyeing processes are illustrated.
